SHRC demands lawmaking against superstition

Kochi: State Human Rights Commission demanded to launch necessary laws for curtailing practices such as superstition and black magic.

SHRC chairman Antony Dominic ordered to strictly ban the advertisements and posters that would draw people into superstition. The commission also advocated to conduct campaigns and create awareness among children against these activities.

The order came up after considering a suo moto case registered based on the human sacrifice cases reported in the state. The order has been forwarded to Kerala chief secretary and home department secretary. The state police chief informed the commission that further investigation over the cases are underway.
