'Show some responsibility', HC flays CBSE

High Court reminded CBSE that this will be the final warning and also instructed to submit a detailed affidavit on the case.

Kochi: Kerala High Court has come down heavily on CBSE in connection 34 students of Arooja Little Stars school not being able to write Class 10 board exam. The court said that the board should show more responsibility and criticised them for not taking adequate steps against schools who function without CBSE’s accreditation.

The court accused CBSE of approving schools all over the country but failing to do any follow up action. The silence from the part of the board is taken for granted by profit mongers. The court then warned that if CBSE continues to play with the future of students, it will not be let off the hook easily.

High Court reminded CBSE that this will be the final warning and also instructed to submit a detailed affidavit on the case. The court then asked the petitioners to submit the list of schools that took the students to other institutes to give their board exams in the previous years.

High asked the government to inform whether an arrangement could be made for these 34 students to appear for the exams.

The Arooja Little Stars School at Thoppumpadi used to admit students upto Class 10 though they have affiliation only till Class 8. Parents and students have been protesting in front of the school alleging that the management kept this information as a secret.

Parents demanded that an alternate arrangement had to be made for the students to appear for the exam as their future is in jeopardy. The school management told them that the students can appear for the exams next year.

The parents came to know that the school does not have CBSE’s affiliation only when they started to enquire about why students were not given hall tickets despite the exam dates getting nearer. Parents also claimed that the management knew about the situation from last September and yet they chose to keep it as a secret.
