Should ask Centre not to implement CAA, says opposition
Thiruvananthapuram: The opposition demanded that Central government must be officially asked not to implement Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in the country. MLA VD Satheesan gave a notice to the speaker demanding to discuss the issue in the special assembly session to be held on Tuesday.
VD Satheesan opined that CAA is against the interest of the country and the constitution. He also said that the opposition strongly opposes the act and that they also oppose the decision to scrape the reservation of the Anglo Indian community. It is in this context that VD Satheesan gave a notice to the speaker calling for a special discussion.
However, the chances are slim for this notice to be approved by the assembly. Most probably, the assembly will pass the resolution that will be presented by the Chief Minister and the Centre will be informed about this. The opposition had decided to stand together on the issue in the all party meeting called by the Chief Minister on Monday.
