Mahe: A ninth-standard student was rushed to the hospital on Monday after he was hit in the head with a shot put at the school ground. The incident took place at Kasthurba Gandhi High School, Palloor here. The injured boy Suryakiran who suffered sustained a severe head injury is reportedly in critical condition.
The mishap happened on Monday afternoon when the students were participating in the selection programme for different sports events in the school. A metal ball thrown by another student fell on Suryakiran’s head by accident.
Teachers rushed Suryakiran to a private hospital in Thalassery and later shifted to a hospital in Kozhikode. He is currently in the Intensive Care Unit in the hospital.
