Shocking revelation by Swapna; Speaker should be questioned, says Chennithala
Kannur: Opposition Leader Ramesh Chennithala on Wednesday urged Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan to resign and face investigation. Terming the revelation made by gold smuggling accused Swapna Suresh, in her confidential statement to the Enforcement Directorate, as shocking Chennithala stated that more truth will come out if the Speaker is questioned.
According to ED, Swapna had disclosed that Sreeramakrishnan planned to open an educational institution abroad and had met the Sharjah ruler here for obtaining the land for this purpose.
Swapna had further revealed that Speaker has investment in this institution. There were plans to appoint Swapna as the manager of the institution and the former principal secretary to Chief Minister and an accused in gold smuggling case M Sivasankar was also a partner in the project.
ED Assistant Director P Radhakrishnan submitted the copy of Swapna’s statement in the High Court the other day along with a petition demanding to quash the FIR registered against its officials by Crime Branch.
Swapna disclosed about the Speaker during the interrogation conducted based on her WhatsApp chat with M Sivasankar. The chat mentioned about the owner of Middle East College in Oman, Lafeer Muhammad. According to Swapna, she was introduced to Lafeer by Sivasankar and Sreeramakrishnan.
