Shobha Surendran under consideration for NCW chairperson post: Reports
Thiruvananthapuram: BJP Kerala state vice-president Shobha Surendran is being considered for the post of chairperson of National Commission for Women (NCW), according to reports.
It is learned that the Centre is examining the legal side of her appointment. Despite mathrubhumi trying to contact her, Shobha Surendran was unavailable for comments.
Shobha Surendran has been staying away from politics following the restructuring of the BJP state committee. Although Shobha Surendran’s name was considered for the post of state president, K. Surendran was appointed as the party’s new state chief. Following this, Shobha Surendran was removed from the post of general secretary and made vice president.
It is learned that the dissatisfaction over this has led Shobha Surendran keep away from politics. Her absence in the protests over the gold smuggling and other cases had become a matter of discussion.
Shobha Surendran’s supporters are of the view that she was sidelined and made the party’s state vice president. However, the BJP leadership clarified that nothing of that sort happened.
It is in this context that efforts are on to provide Shobha Surendran a post in the national level.
