Ship from Lakshadweep gets stuck in sea

The 'Arabian Sea' ship which got stuck near the Androth shore being dragged out of the sand using boats.

Cochin: ‘Arabian Sea’, a ship which started its journey from Lakshadweep with 235 passengers on board on Saturday night got stuck in the sand beneath the sea, close to Androth shore.

Fishermen and workers at the port came to the rescue, and dragged the ship out of the pile of sand with the help of several boats.

The ship resumed journey later in the night at 10:45 pm.

The Lakshadweep administration had sent in a large boat for the rescue operation.

The ship safely reached the Cochin shore on Sunday morning.

Repair works are being carried out. The ‘Arabian Sea’ might halt its services for a while.

Currently there are 5 ships sailing on the Cochin-Lakshadweep route.
