Thiruvananthapuram: Former minister and state secretariat member Shibu Baby John was appointed as the state secretary of Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP).

A A Aziz, who stepped down from office as state secretary, nominated Shibu Baby John as his replacement. Following this, leaders unanimously agreed to appoint him as the secretary for the next three years.

Shibu Baby John is son of former minister and RSP leader Baby John. He was the former General Secretary of the state's Revolutionary Socialist Party (Baby John), which later merged with the Revolutionary Socialist Party.

Meanwhile, Shibu Baby John openly slammed rumours that RSP will join LDF by claiming that "CPM has deteriorated to the core" and his party remains the only "real left party".

He added that his party would not sever ties with UDF and would oppose the ruling government's oppressive mentality.
