Shashi Tharoor speaks in Bengali, urges migrant workers in Kerala to remain in state
Senior Congress leader and Thiruvananthapuram MP Shashi Tharoor posted a video in social media appealing to the migrant workers in the state to remain in Kerala as lockdown has been declared across the nation.
The video, however, was not in Malayalam, English or Hindi. Since a large portion of the migrant labourers in Kerala hails from Bengal, Shashi Tharoor was making his request in Bengali. The video was uploaded since there has been large scale exodus of migrant labourers in various parts of the country due to the lockdown.
Shashi Tharoor’s fluency over Bengali language has won him an increased fan base. Many Bengali Twitter users have applauded him for his diction while speaking. The video was shared from his Twitter account on Wednesday.
Tharoor also mentioned that the state government has made all arrangements for the welfare of the migrant labourers in the state. He also reminded the workers that the government had promised to provide them food and shelter facilities.
