Sindhu, Nirmalkumar Nair, Greeshma
Thiruvananthapuram: Police are investigating whether Greeshma, who allegedly poisoned her male friend to death in Thiruvananthapuram, received help from her mother Sindhu and uncle Nirmal for the murder. Meanwhile, police remanded her mother and uncle in custody and booked them under charges of trying to destroy crucial evidence in the case.
Greeshma (22) was detained for serving an ayurvedic decoction laced with pesticide to Sharon Raj, a native of Parassala, as her marriage was fixed with another man. Later, Greeshma confessed to the police that she poisoned Sharon to do away with him after her engagement. She told the police that she plotted the crime alone. However, the police were wary of her statement and decided to probe the role played by her relatives.
Greeshma, who tried to commit suicide by drinking disinfectant at the Nedumangad police station, continues to remain in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Medical College. Upon recovery, she will likely be shifted to a police cell.
Minister Antony Raju on Wednesday said that the investigation into the murder case is going in the right direction. He addressed the media after he visited the house of Sharon. We will examine whether the local police, who initially probed the case, made any mistakes, he added.
