Thiruvananthapuram: An additional sessions court in Neyyattinkara on Friday dismissed the bail petition filed by Greeshma, the prime accused in the Sharon Raj Murder Case.
Greeshma (22) was arrested for serving an ayurvedic decoction laced with herbicide to Sharon Raj, a native of Parassala, as her marriage was fixed with another man.
Later, Greeshma confessed to the police that she poisoned Sharon to do away with him after her engagement. She also tried to commit suicide, while in police custody, by consuming disinfectant at the Nedumangad Police Station.
Greeshma has been detained at Attakulangara Sub Jail for the past five months. Earlier, the court agreed to Sharon's family's request to initiate trial proceedings by keeping her in judicial custody. However, the court then noted that the accused could appeal for bail during the period. Greeshma's bail plea came at this juncture. However, the court rejected it.
It is learnt that trial proceedings will begin soon.
