Palakkad: Police have recovered four mobile phones of the suspects who were nabbed in connection with the murder of CPM leader Shajahan. The mobile phones were obtained during the evidence collection from a forest region in Chembana near Malampuzha.

Jinesh, who was arrested on the previous day, had helped the assailants to hide, said police. Jinesh is a BJP booth committee secretary, police added. He had provided food for the accused while they were hiding and concealed their mobile phones in a forest near his house. The mobile phones were found wrapped by a plastic cover.

Police inspected a poultry stall in Kallepully on Sunday, where one of the accused Aavas was working. The accused had plotted the crime and handed over weapons from here, claimed the investigation team. Police found that the suspects met from this poultry stall most of the days.

Police have arrested 12 suspects following the death of Shajahan on August 14. The remand report noted that eight of the suspects are BJP workers.
