Thrissur: The Students Federation of India (SFI) has reportedly launched a protest in Kerala Varma College demanding appointment of a former leader as guest lecturer at the institution.
Although the organisation has raised several other demands, significance has been given to the lecturer appointment. The strike, which began a few days back, intensified on Friday.
According to reports, the students even tried to detain the principal. Following this, the police arrived at the college and brought the situation under control.
Meanwhile, complaints have been lodged against the interview attended by the former leader. A commission has also been appointed to investigate the matter.
“The issue is being considered and an immediate decision cannot be taken,” said VA Narayanan, principal in-charge.
