SFI leader Sajan Mathew, paralysed for 8 years, passes away
Thodupuzha/Aranmula: Former SFI Idukki District Secretary and member of CPM Munnar area committee Sajan Mathew passed away in the wee hours of Saturday. He was 35. He was paralysed below the waist for the past eight years following a road accident. Sajan was admitted to Kozhencherry hospital as the sodium level in his blood dropped alarmingly. He passed away during the treatment.
Sajan met with the accident in 2012 when he was returning from Ramanathapuram in Tamil Nadu after SFI national conference. The car in which he and friends were travelling lost control and overturned. SFI state committee member Satheesh Paul and former chairman of MG University Union Jineesh who were with Sajan in the car had died in the accident.
Sajan was being taken care of at his brother-in-law Roy’s house in Aranmula. Roy is husband of Sajan’s sister Nisha. Sajan is son of Mundakkayam Peruvanthanam native K C Mathew and Marykutty. Last rites will be performed at Mundakkayam Meloram CSI church cemetery on Sunday at 3 pm. A commemoration ceremony will be held by Sajan Suhrudvedi.
