Thiruvananthapuram: The principal of Christian College in Kattakada has been removed from all charges of the teachers’ union Kerala Private College Teachers Association (KPCTA), following the inclusion of an unelected student on the list submitted to Kerala University for the selection of office bearers of university-level students' union.
Principal Dr GJ Shaiju was the district secretary of the Congress-affiliated KPCTA in Thiruvananthapuram.

The university syndicate meeting on Saturday will consider whether he must be removed as principal. The decision will be taken after considering the report of the returning officer of the students’ union election submitted to the university registrar.
The principal has claimed that certain technical glitches have resulted in the replacement of A Visakh’s name instead of an elected UUC Anagha while forwarding the list to the university. He claimed the elected member resigned and SFI members recommended Visakh’s name instead for the post.
Meanwhile, the Kattakada CPM area committee suspended Visakh’s party membership on Thursday. Visakh was a local committee member in Plavoor. CPM will consider if the party faction had any lapses in selecting the union office bearer.
