Attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office: Congress to conduct massive rally in Kalpetta

From a protest held on Friday

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress will conduct a rally and public gathering to protest against the incident where SFI activists vandalised the office of Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi on Friday. Congress has planned a massive rally commencing from the office of Rahul Gandhi at 2 pm on Saturday which will end only with a meeting at Kalpetta town.

KPCC president K Sudhakaran, AICC general secretary KC Venugopal, opposition leader VD Satheesan, Kodikunnil Suresh MP, MK Raghavan MP, KPCC working president T Siddique MLA, Muslim League leaders KM Shaji and PMA Salam will participate in the rally.

On Friday, a huge ruckus had been reported in Kalpetta following the unanticipated blockade of the national highway by the Congress activists and the marches organised to protest against the attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office. Similar protests led by Congress turned violent in various locations of the state.

The Congress workers alleged that the lapses on the part of police to ensure security to Rahul Gandhi’s office had led to the attack. Though DCC president ND Appachan informed the police over the SFI demonstration and possible attack on Rahul Gandhi’s office, the latter failed to resort to required measures, accused the activists.
