Sexual harassment case against Liju Krishna: WCC slams ‘Padavettu’ makers

The Women in Cinema Collective has criticised the makers of ‘Padavettu’ movie days after the woman who raised sexual harassment complaint against director Liju Krishna opened up about her ordeal in an interview with Mathribhumi.com. WCC has pointed out that the makers of ‘Padavettu’ violated the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at the Work Place (POSH) act 2018.

“As per the POSH act, the employer must set up an internal committee at the workplace. But
‘Padavettu’ makers didn’t form an internal committee in the unit. There were no responsible people to address her complaint. Because of this, she was forced to approach the police with a complaint against the director. Following this, the director got arrested,” WCC wrote in its Facebook post.

“ After obtaining bail in the case, the director is celebrating the release of his movie. But the complainant woman is battling to survive in her life,” WCC pointed out.
The association also raised concern over the exploitation of women in the film industry.
