Kozhikode: Railway Police on Wednesday dismissed social media posts over the arrest of a soldier for allegedly sexually assaulting a college girl aboard the Rajdhani Express.
"Police had not shared any medical reports declining sexual assault in the case. The investigation is ongoing," said Railway police Inspector Krispin and SI Shanif to mathrubhumi.com.
On March 18, a soldier was arrested by the Railway police from Rajdhani Express on a complaint filed by a postgraduate student alleging she was sexually assaulted. It was alleged that the accused forced her to consume alcohol before sexually exploiting her. The incident is said to have happened when the train was transiting between Alappuzha and Ernakulam.
However, several social media posts proclaimed that medical reports dismissed sexual assault claim, and the girl cooked up a story after arriving at her home drunk. Railway officials dismissed these posts and said the investigation is ongoing.
Meanwhile, the officials took the confidential statement of the girl. The court also dismissed a bail plea moved by the accused the other day.
