Accused Saseendran-MCH Kozhikode

Kozhikode: The woman, who was sexually assaulted by a hospital staff at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital, has been threatened and pressured by the coworkers of the accused to change her statement, aiming to save attender Saseendran, who was arrested in connection with the case the other day.

The woman, who underwent a thyroid surgery, is still at the hospital and has lodged a written complaint with the medical college superintendent in this regard.

According to the complaint, she was asked to change her statement by a nursing assistant, a Grade I hospital attendant, a Grade II hospital attendant and a daily wage labourer. They threatened her to change the statement she gave before the police, magistrate and hospital authorities, accept compensation and settle the case.

Apparently, they approached the woman several times on Wednesday demanding the same. Following which, she lodged a complaint and the superintendent gave a factual report to the committee, which was set up to investigate the sexual assault.

In a warning order issued by the superintendent to the coworkers of the accused, it has been pointed out that the crime is of serious nature on the part of the employees and they themselves will be solely responsible for its consequences.

In addition, a female security officer has been appointed to guard the woman’s room. The order also directed to provide treatment to the woman free of cost and her daily health status should be reported to the superintendent. Further details regarding the same have been handed over to the department heads and the director of the health department.

The incident pertaining to the sexual assault case took place last Saturday while the woman was semi-conscious in the surgical ICU of the hospital.
