Strng winds wreak havoc in Thrissur
Thrissur: A sudden whirlwind caused heavy damages in Thrissur, Varandarappilly, Nandipuram and Attappilly regions in Thrissur on Friday. Several trees and electric posts were uprooted in various regions and reports of ravaged agricultural lands have also come up.
Huge storms were recorded in the 20th and 16th wards of Varandarappilly panchayat at around 7.30 am on Friday. The heavy winds blew for at least 5 minutes. Power supply has been disrupted following the winds and the works to restore electricity is ongoing in many regions here.
Accurate data over the destruction have not been received yet. Only a few employees are currently present in government offices due to the holidays.
