Thiruvananthapuram: Vigilance court has rejected former minister K Babu’s request to acquit him in an asset case.
The court also rejected his request to consider transport allowance as income. With this, the former minister will have to face trial in the case.
According to the case, K Babu allegedly acquired illegal assets between July 2007 and May 2016. The charge sheet stated that the former minister acquired 49.45 per cent illegal assets during the period.
The Ernakulam vigilance special cell investigated the case and submitted the charge sheet. Earlier in January, the Muvattupuzha vigilance court had granted bail to Babu.
The Thrippunithura Pratikarana Vedi had submitted the petition in the court.
