Thiruvananthapuram: Former MLA and Kerala Janapaksham (Secular) leader PC George who got arrested in a sexual assault case was granted bail by a magistrate court here within hours after the arrest on Saturday. It is learnt that the police booked him under non-bailable charges. However, many people are questioning how George got bail so easily.

Usually, courts take a stand favourable for the complainants. While some pointed out that the prosecution has not provided any conclusive evidence than the statement of the complainant.

It is for the second time, that George is walking out of jail. When George was initially arrested under a non-bailable offence in connection with hate speech against Muslims, he got bail on the same day. It is reported that George obtained bail in the hate speech case as there was no public prosecutor present when he was produced before a magistrate.

The police then received flak for not ensuring basic matters pertaining to the case. Many questioned how he was granted relief so quickly when the offence was non-bailable. Some people even alleged that the state government just wanted to create a scene and did not want George to be booked.

Now, giving ammunition to the critics, the court granted conditional bail to PC George in the new case.
