Thrissur: During a women's commission sitting at Thrissur Hall Town on Saturday, an elderly woman threw chilli powder at the officials. The woman came with chilly powder and demanded the authorities to take up her complaint first. Though the chilly powder did not cause any harm to Commission Assistant Lekha, employee Sreejith and lawyers Sunitha and Rajitha, they all felt uneasy after the incident.
The woman, a native of Mulankunnathukavu Chinabazar, lodged a complaint against doctors for not providing adequate treatment to her husband, who died of cancer. The Commission, which had considered the complaint twice, adjourned the hearing. The Pink Police immediately took the woman into custody.
The other day, a complainant had telephoned Women's Commission Assistant Lekha and threatened her. A case was filed but the complainant was released after meeting police and commission members.
The Kerala Women's Commission considered 78 cases and settled 20 of them. Four cases were handed over to the police for a detailed report. The remaining cases will be considered during the next sitting.
