Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Police Officers Association (KPOA) state president R Prasanth has emphasized the importance of ensuring the safety of police officers in the state, just as much as that of doctors. In a Facebook post, he suggested that police officers should be equipped with necessary weapons to confront unforeseen attacks, especially during night patrolling.
Prasanth demanded to increase the number of police aid posts in hospitals and provide security equipment, including guns to the cops who are on duty.
Prasanth has raised the demands in view of the death of Dr Vandana Das who was on duty at Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. She was brutally killed by a drug addict in the wee hours of Wednesday. The assailant had stabbed the police officers also.
