Rajmohan Unnithan MP, MLA AKM Ashraf, and NA Nellikunnu in Vande Bharat Express

Kasaragod: Serious security lapses were reported during the second trial run of Vande Bharat Express to Kasaragod on Wednesday. Despite the trial run being restricted to officials only, it was reported that several unauthorized individuals, including a passenger carrying an infant, had managed to board the train. It is suspected that the relatives of railway officials had gained unauthorized access to the trial run.

Passengers who boarded from Ernakulam primarily occupied the C12 coach of the Vande Bharat train. Despite directions from the Railway Protection Force to deboard at Kozhikode railway station, they persisted with their journey. The passengers only disembarked at Kasaragod station after media personnel noticed closed curtains in the C12 coach and identified unauthorized individuals inside. Following this, the passengers were taken to the VIP lounge at the railway station and subsequently sent back on the Bhavnagar-Kochuveli Express.

In addition to this, MP Rajmohan Unnithan’s response to the media from the train also sparked controversy. After the train arrived in Kasaragod railway station, MP Rajmohan Unnithan, and MLAs NA Nellikkunnu and AKM Ashraf, addressed the media from the C1 coach.

Unnithan slammed BJP for trying to make political gains by granting Vande Bharat Express all of a sudden to Kerala. The train has arrived at Kasaragod as a result of constant interventions and it is not an ‘ancestral property’ of anyone, said Unnithan.

Meanwhile, activists of BJP, UDF and Muslim League crowded at Kasaragod railway station to welcome the Vande Bharat train to the district. When the BJP activists raised slogans praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the UDF and League workers raised slogans in support of their MP and MLA. Several people rushed to the third platform of the station to take pictures of the train. Some of them were even spotted standing on the railway track for clicking selfies.
