Search, rescue operations to be centred around Kochi
Kochi: The search and rescue operations to save those who are still trapped in the sea following the cyclone Ockhi will be centered around Kochi. As per the official information, this decision is to increase the speed of the rescue operations.
Reports say that officers and the troops deployed for rescue operations will shift from Thiruvananthapuram to Kochi on Monday.
At the same time, it has been decided to increase the search distance limit for the effectiveness of the mission. According to the fishermen, currently the security officers are conducting search within a limit of 40 nautical miles. But it was denied by the Force.
Meanwhile, 32 people trapped in sea were rescued by three search boats on Monday. It is known that these are fishermen from Kochi. 8 people in Maria boat, 12 each in Periyanayaka and St Joseph boats have been brought to Bitra atoll in Lakshadweep.
