Kozhikode: The Kerala cabinet granted a compensation of Rs 2 lakh from the Kerala Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund to Harshina, who lodged a complaint for allegedly leaving a pair of scissors in her stomach after a C-section operation at Government Medical College Hospital in Kozhikode.

Meanwhile, Harshina responded that the compensation is insufficient as she spent a lot on her treatment.

The cabinet has entrusted the home department to probe the case as the two panels appointed by the department of health failed to prove when the scissors got trapped in the stomach.

Harshina has decided to launch a demonstration in front of the secretariat accusing Minister for Health Veena George of not keeping her promise. The minister assured a solution within two weeks after meeting Harshina in person. However, no action was taken even after three weeks and when Harshina attempted to contact the minister, she received no response, she said. This urged Harshina to move forward with her protest.
