Uzhavoor: The motor vehicle department will conduct tests for school buses before the schools reopen. Considering the safety of school going children, all the buses will undergo their pre-monsoon tests on May 22, said joint RTO Ambikadevi P.N.
An awareness class by the motor vehicle department is also arranged for the drivers on Wednesday. There will also be an eye testing test for the drivers followed by vehicle testing. The venue for all these will be Kuryanad Chavara hills.
After the tests are done, special safety stickers will be stuck. School vehicles without these stickers will not be allowed to ply with students after June 1. All educational institutions should send their vehicles for the test with related documents and the driver’s license.
The bus’s engine efficiency, speed governors, height of the footsteps, strength of the floorboards will be checked. The doors, first aid boxes and racks for keeping bags will also be examined.
