New Delhi: The Supreme Court has stayed a statement of Kerala High Court in its verdict against Ernakulam sessions court judge Honey M Varghese on the case of murder of a Twenty20 worker at Kizhakkambalam. The bench comprising Justice Vineeth Saran and Justice KJ Maheswari stayed the comment on an HC order that Honey M Varghese has a relationship with the political party of the accused in the murder of Deepu.
The SC has also sent notice to the state government, Deepu’s father Kunjaru, and the four accused in the case.
The comment of HC was in the order of transferring the bail plea to Thrissur court. Kunjaru had accused the judge of being close to CPM based on some Facebook posts. He said he is afraid that he would get justice from the judge. This accusation was part of the HC order.
Senior advocate V Giri and advocate Liz Mathew, who appeared for Honey M Varghese, argued that the Facebook posts were not produced. The court will hear the matter after six weeks.
