Kochi: In view of the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), archbishop of Bombay Oswald Gracias directed the believers to avoid handshake and say ‘Namaste’ with folded hands while greeting during the holy mass. The Cardinal of Roman Catholic Church issued a circular directing all churches to follow a set of rules to prevent the spread of the disease.
As per the circular, all churches are directed to follow the directions till April 12, Easter day. The priests must cancel family meets and other meets if any person in his parish has symptoms of infection.
The circular also noted that the government departments have taken action to control the spread of COVID-19 and all should cooperate with their directions without panic.
Though the circular was issued to churches and institutes under Bombay Archdiocese, the same circular will be issued to all churches in India.
