Kochi: Thrikkakara bypoll is round the corner and political slugfest over related matters are emerging. According to law minister P Rajeev, Oppositional leader VD Satheesan wants to project himself as one who has the final word in Congress.

“Satheesan is of the stance that he is the final word in Congress. Oommen Chandy, Ramesh Chennithala, Benny Behnan, Dominic Presentation are irrelevant to him,” Rajeev said.

He said that Satheesan is not responding to the political questions raised by the Left front and Congress is campaigning against faith leaders of the Church over Dr Jo Joseph’s candidature in Thrikkakara. Satheesan is making misleading claims about the candidacy, he said.

Satheesan had commented against Rajeev the other day and the latter’s response comes in the wake of this. Satheesan said that he never commented that Dr Jo Joseph was a nominee of the Christian community. He also asked the critics not to drag Congress into the ongoing friction between CPM district secretary and minister P Rajeev. He added that P Rajeev was the person behind dragging the name of Syro-Malabar Church into the candidature of Dr Jo Joseph.

Meanwhile, Rajeev claimed that even DCC secretary is campaigning for LDF candidate. “What more public support we would require?” he asked. Rajeev further said that party is aiming for a representative who can stand with Pinarayi Vijayan regime and can aid Thrikkakara in its development, without wasting the four years ahead.
