Kundara Bomb Case: Prime accused says he is innocent, was not present during time of mishap

Thiruvananthapuram: In a startling revelation, prime accused in the Kundara Bomb Case, revealed it was Saritha S Nair who contacted him and informed that someone hurled a petrol bomb at a vehicle used by Shiju Varghese, an independent candidate during the 2021 assembly election. Vinu Kumar claimed he was innocent and was in Venjaramoodu during the time of the incident.

"The plan to hurl the bomb was hatched by former EMCC director Shiju Varghese and industrialist Dallal Nandakumar. Nandakumar contacted me and wanted to arrange some workers for him. I was not aware that someone hurled a bomb," he said. Vinu Kumar said that he had known Saritha S Nair since 2016.

Shiju Varghese, former director of EMCC, is now facing trial in the case of conspiring against former minister J Mercykutty Amma by burning his own car during elections. The police later filed a charge sheet against four people, including Shiju Varghese and Vinu Kumar.

Shiju Varghese is the fourth accused in the case. The others are Krishnakumar and Srikanth.

Shiju Varghese contested last election by forming the DSJP party to settle grudge and defame Mercykutty Amma for cancelling a deep sea fishing agreement. On election day, he hurled petrol bombs at his own car and spread the word that Mercykutty Amma's group was behind it. But it became clear that Shiju Varghese was behind this and he was arrested.
