Saritha’s complaint: Case booked against Chandy, KC Venugopal
Thiruvananthapuram: The Crime Branch has registered a case against former chief minister Oommen Chandy and KC Venugopal based on a complaint of Saritha S Nair claiming she was sexually abused by both.
The case was registered against Oommen Chandy for having unnatural sex and KC Venugopal on charges of rape. Crime Branch registered the case after Saritha filed a complaint with the special investigation team.
Though Saritha had earlier filed a complaint against four people, including Oommen Chandy and Venugopal, the special investigation team received legal advice not to register case against them.
The special investigation team, including Rajesh Diwan and Dinedra Kashyap, took a stand that case should not be booked against many people on the basis of a single complaint by Saritha. Following this, Saritha filed a special complaint to ADGP Anil Kant against Oommen Chandy and KC Venugopal a few days back.
The Crime Branch registered an FIR on the complaint after receiving legal advice to register the case.
