Periya twin murder: Ex-MLA Kunhiraman added in list of accused, CBI tells court

Kochi: In connection with Periya twin murder case, the CBI informed the court that they have named ten more accused including K V Kunhiraman, former MLA of CPM. The CBI had arrested five CPM activists the other day. When they were produced in Ernakulam CBI court, the officials informed that ten more people are added to the list of the accused.

Kunhiraman was former MLA of Udma constituency and is also CPM district secretariat member. Apart from the five who were arrested on Wednesday, Raghavan Velutholi, Gopan Velutholi, Sandeep Velutholi and Bhaskaran are named accused in the case. The CBI made it clear in the court that they are going to arrest all the accused except Kunhiraman.

DySP T P Ananthakrishnan arrested the five people on Wednesday. They were identified as Kalyott Echiladukkam branch secretary P Rajesh (38), Kalyott native Sastha Madhu (40), Echiladukkam natives Reji Varghese (44) and Hariprasad (31). They were remanded for 14 days. This was the first arrest after CBI took over the case a year ago.

The Crime Branch had arrested 14 people when they were in charge of the investigation. With this, the total number of accused has risen to 24. The case was charged after Periya Kalyott natives and Youth Congress workers Sarathlal and Kripesh were murdered on February 17 in 2019.
