Pieces of sandalwood recovered

Kottayam: Sandalwood tree on the premises of a house was chopped and stolen on Sunday morning. The sandalwood tree on the compound of the residence of KSEB Engineer Ramadasan was stolen in Ettumanoor.

The thieves stole the sandalwood tree which was 26 years old. Eight pieces of sandalwood and hand saws were later found hidden in an abandoned compound near Ramadasan’s house.

The officials from the forest department inspected the sandalwood pieces and initiated further procedures. Police have obtained CCTV visuals of the theft. Meanwhile, the house owner has informed the police that he has no complaint over the theft.
