Kozhikode: Kerala Nadvathul Mujahideen has again shown that they have become a tool in the hands of communalists, accused Samastha Kerala Jem-iyyathul Ulama (EK faction) leaders in a press conference here on Friday. They were reacting to the controversies surrounding the state conference of Mujahideen that was concluded recently here.
The Samastha will organise a public event on Sunday evening at Kozhikode beach to make its stand clear on the controversy and the allegations levelled against it.
This is a time when all democratic forces and secularists must join hands against the threats of the fascist state. But the KNM justified the agenda of the state by inviting its representatives into the conference, said the leaders on the attendance of Goa governor PS Sreedharan Pillai at the event. Pillai is the former president of the Kerala BJP.
They also dismissed reports that Samastha banned members of the Thangal family from attending the KNM event. “They stayed away from it owing to their ideology. Though Samastha believes that our leaders should not attend such events of other organisations, we have not banned anyone. No one has attended events of Jamat-e-Islami or Mujahid in the past," said one leader.
The notice for an event at the KNM conference carried the names of Munavvar Ali Shihab Thangal and Rasheed Ali Shihab Thangal. KNM had alleged that they stayed away fearing the wrath of the Samastha.
The Samastha meeting will expose the agenda of those who spread distorted ideologies in the name of Islam, leaders said. Muhammad Jifri Muthukkoya Thangal will inaugurate the event.
