Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Culture Minister Saji Cheriyan extended support to the joint decision of the Film Employees Federation of Kerala (FEFKA), Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) to temporarily ban actors Shane Nigam and Sreenath Bhasi following repeated complaints of bad behaviour.

Speaking to mediapersons, the minister confirmed holding talks with film professionals on the increasing drug use among actors and said, “If the actors have made mistakes, then no one is against them rectifying their errors and be back in the film industry again.”

“The producers' association have themselves stated that they would lodge complaints. If a written complaint is filed, then stringent action will be taken,” Cheriyan said.

“The government has the responsibility to move the film industry forward with a sense of security. Inspections related to drugs cannot be carried out at shooting locations. The film sector has its own rules for the same,” he added.
