Kasaragod: It was the biggest accolade for Sajan from Kallar in Kasaragod district when he secured the state government’s treasury director post and became the first person from Mavilan tribe to be appointed to the post. Mavilan is one of the important tribes in Kerala which is considered as primitive.

According to Sajan, he had no high aspirations to government service. “I only aspired to complete studies and top. I had a dream of getting a job with good salary to support my family. That was my only wish then,” he said.

In a lighter moment, he recollected that during school days when teachers asked students about their ambition, Sajan used to say he wished to become a doctor or engineer for the sake of saying something.

However, after pursuing pre-degree Sajan gave a try at medical entrance. He was not successful and pursued higher studies in fisheries.

In 2004, Sajan landed his first government job. He became LD clerk at Perumbavoor Taluk Supply Office. While working he wrote the exam in treasury department. He cleared the exam with first rank and entered treasury department. Sajan worked in the roles of assistant treasury officer and treasury officer in Kollam, Paravoor, Kozhikode, Thrissur, Kasaragod and even his native. The new role comes after this long tenure.

Sajan is son of late couple Veeran and Chitta. His family members are NC Smitha (wife, legislative employee), Sanoop (son, engineering student) and Sneha (daughter, class 10 student).
