According to police, the detonator and fuse were found unconnected to the gelatin sticks and there was no chance of an explosion from it directly. They have lodged a case and are investigating the matter. The cops also shifted the gelatin sticks and detonators to a safe place. It is learnt that the bomb squad will examine the premises.
From the examination, it has been found that the gelatin sticks reportedly are of Sun 90 brand, manufactured by a private company in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruchirappalli. It seems they were manufactured six years ago.
Gelatin stick being something that is also widely used as a cheap explosive for mining and construction, police doubt whether the sack was brought for construction work in the school. However, school authorities claim that only compressors were used for prior grinding and demolition activities.
