Kitex sues officials for defaming reputation of company

The notices demand the officers to withdraw the comments in 15 days after receiving the letter.

Kochi: Sabu Jacob's Kitex Garments sent a legal notice to government officials seeking Rs 5 crores for defaming the reputation of the company.

"P M Feroz, Ernakulam district labour officer and K B Jayaprakash, Perumbavoor assistant labour officer gave statements to the media by misusing the official position with political intentions," Kitex said. The labour officers told media that Kitex is not providing minimum wage to the employees and the company is violating as many as 73 rules, the company alleged.

The notices demand the officers to withdraw their comments within 15 days after receiving the letter.
