Sabarimala will not be used for poll campaign: Suresh Gopi
Thiruvananthapuram: When the assembly bypolls are round the corner, Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi declared that he will not use Sabarimala for election campaign. He noted that the central government is aware of how to deal with Sabarimala issue.
“The Centre will take a surgical strike like Article 370 in Sabarimala issue,” said the actor-turned politician.
He was visiting Vattiyoorkavu in connection with the assembly bypoll campaign.
Speaking to media, Suresh Gopi asserted that he is taking the same stand on Sabarimala issue which he declared during the Lok Sabha Polls 2019.
Responding on the criminal case filed against director Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Suresh Gopi said Adoor takes stand as per his political views.
“He has the freedom to exercise his fundamental rights as I do. I will not question it. He will respond in the way as per his political views. I do have a political stand but it is not anti-democratic,” he added.
Declaring support to Prime Minister, he stated that Modi criticised mob lynching in North India.
“None of the leaders from Kerala have ever criticised the political killings in Kerala. But Modi and BJP have criticised these killings and declared that none will be protected,” pointed out Suresh Gopi.
