The selection of Sabarimala head priest will take place after the lots, carrying the names of 10 shortlisted priests, are placed in a silver pot and taken for puja inside the shrine.

Pathanamthitta: The Sabarimala Temple will open at 5 pm on Monday for the special puja during the Malayalam month of Thulam. The temple head priest N Parameswaran Namboothiri will lit the lamp and open the temple doors in the presence of Tantri (chief priest) Kantaru Rajeevaru.

Meanwhile, the draw of lots for the selection of head priest will take place on Tuesday morning. There are 10 names shortlisted for Sabarimala and eight for Malikapuram. Of which, six names are included in both the lists.

The Sabarimala lots will be drawn by Krithikesh Varma of Pandalam Palace. Following which, the draw of lots for the selection of Malikapuram head priest will be carried out by Pournami G Varma of Pandalam Palace.

The entry of devotees into the temple will be regulated via virtual queues. Spot booking facilities will be available at Nilakkal. After the pujas, the temple will be shut on October 22.
