VK Jayaraj Potti opening Sabarimala shrine in the presence of Tantri Kandaru Maheshwaru Mohanaru
Sabarimala: Sabarimala Ayyappa temple was opened for the monthly rituals during the Thulam month. The shrine was opened on Saturday at 5 pm by head priest V K Jayaraj Potti in the presence of Tantri Kandaru Maheshwaru Mohanaru. No other special rituals were conducted.
The draw of lots to select the new head priest will take place on Sunday morning after the morning rituals. The selection of head priest for Sabarimala temple will be carried out first. The lot will be taken after a silver pot that carries the names of 9 priests, who were shortlisted, is placed for puja inside the shrine.
Govind Varma of Pandalam Palace will be taking the lot to select Sabarimala temple head priest. Following this, draw of lots to choose the head priest of Malikappuram temple will take place. The lot will be taken by Niranjan R Varma.
Devaswom Board president N Vasu, High Court observer retired Justice N Bhaskaran and others will supervise the draw. The children of Pandalam palace ascended Sabarimala hills as part of draw of lots.
