Pathanamthitta: Travancore Devaswom Board president K Ananthagopan informed that the number of people allowed to book through the virtual queue in Sabarimala per day has been increased by 5000. However, spot booking slots have not been increased. Only 5000 people are allowed to do spot booking. With this, 55,000 people can have darshan per day.
More people are being allowed to visit the temple considering the rise in the number of pilgrims. The High Court had instructed the government to inform their decision on increasing the number of pilgrims permitted entry into the temple.
Travancore Devaswom Board president said that pre-booking cannot be halted during the pilgrimage season. He also said that majority of pilgrims who wish to see 'Makaravilakku' will be allowed to witness it.
A total of 6,55,393 pilgrims visited Sabarimala since the opening of the divine shrine. 8,35,102 people booked the slots online.
The state government gave the nod for the bus service from Andhra Pradesh to Pamba. The decision is to allow 400 buses per day.
As the pilgrimage season completes one month, Sabarimala’s revenue stands at Rs 46 crore. Last year, it was Rs 5.27 crore.
This year the temple received Rs 14 crore as holy offering. Rs 5 lakh was collected through E-Kanikka and Rs 1 crore as a donation for 'Annadhanam'.
