Sabarimala: Prohibitory orders extended till Nov 30
Pathanamthitta: The district authority has extended the prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC in Sabarimala and its premises till November 30. Police have requested the district administration to extend prohibitory orders in Sannidhanam, Nilakkal and Pampa in order to check protest.
Meanwhile, police informed that pilgrims will be allowed to ascend the shrine individually or in a group. There is no restriction to chant Ayappa mantras.
Pathanamthitta district collector PB Nooh extended the prohibitory orders till November 30 on Monday. The prohibitory order was evoked from Ilavunkal to Sannidhanam on November 15.
Police have put forward the request as the prevailing prohibitory order expired on Monday. The district administration evoked prohibitory orders in the shrine and its premises on November 15. The prohibitory order has been evoked to maintain law and order and ensure protection of life and property. Hence, police restricted unlawful assembly, protests, public meeting and road blockade here,
Apart from extension of the prohibitory order, police department has made reshuffle in the duty of some police officials.
State police chief Lokanath Behera in a press note informed that the new officials will take charge of security in Sabarimala as party of the second phase of security from Novemeber 30 to December 14.
