Sannidhanam: The Kerala police have imposed strict restrictions in Sabarimala in view of security concerns. In addition to the decision to implement online booking for devotees and pass for vehicles, restrictions have been imposed at Appam-Aravana counters and Annadanam counter as well.
Rooms should not be given on rent in the evening. Aravana-Appam Prasada counters should be closed at 10 pm and Annadanam counter at 11 pm. Earlier, Appam-Aravana counters used to operate 24 hours.
Sabarimala executive officer informed that soon after the shrine is closed, the shops nearby should also be closed and the keys should be handed over to police. He added that the police restrictions will affect the income of Sabarimala and it would be difficult to impose these restrictions.
Only half of the shops were sold in the auction. The executive officer added that if the devotees are not allowed to stay at night, it will cause difficulties to perform Neyyabhishekam.
