Pathanamthitta: The revenue collection of Sabarimala temple touched an all-time high during the Mandalam season of 2022. A revenue of Rs 222.98 crore has been obtained in the first 39 days of the Mandalam season 2022, crossing the highest recorded revenue of Rs 164 crore in 2017.
Travancore Devaswom president K Ananthagopan informed that over 29 lakh pilgrims arrived at Sabarimala this season. Apart from the revenue, Rs 70.10 crore has been received as ‘Kanikka’ (offerings) in this period.
Sabarimala temple authorities received Rs 222,98,70,250 as revenue and Rs 70,10,81,986 for 39 days of the Mandalam season. The devaswom has not revealed the revenue collection from ‘Appam’ and ‘Aravana’.
Nearly 20 per cent of the pilgrims arrived this year were children. The lockdown and Covid-induced restrictions that prevailed in the last two years have led to the hike in the number of children this year.
