Sabarimala issue will not be a matter of discussion during Pala bypoll: Kodiyeri Balakrishnan
Pala: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan on Friday said that the Sabarimala issue will not be a matter of discussion during the Pala bypoll. “During the Lok Sabha polls, may fooled the people using the Sabarimala issue but none of it will be discussed during the Pala bypoll,” he added.
“During the LS polls, opponents sought votes stating that they will revoke the Supreme Court order on Sabarimala. But following the victory, they also said that the law cannot be changed. Sabarimala issue will not be a matter of discussion during Pala bypoll. Can winning a bypoll change an apex court verdict?” he asked.
Kodiyeri Balakrishnan stated that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) has no enmity towards any organisation including the Nair Service Society (NSS). He hoped that the NSS would maintain its equidistance policy during the Pala bypoll.
“We welcome the stance by Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP). Every organisation has its own political stance and I hope that the NSS will maintain its equidistance policy,” the CPM leader explained.
“The situation in Pala is in favour of LDF candidate Mani C Kappan. Despite being represented by K.M. Mani for a long time, Pala still lacks basic necessities including drinking water. Even after winning the constituency so many times, the United Democratic Front (UDF) has been ignoring Pala. Now there are disputes within UDF and they themselves are not on the same page. How will the people vote for UDF in such a situation,” Kodiyeri Balakrishnan wondered.
