Thiruvananthapuram: CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the Sabarimala issue had created misunderstandings among the people. The door-to-door visit by CPM cadres which started on Monday has come to understand that there is a misunderstanding among the people and they believe the Left is against the devotees. Measures to correct this misconception will be taken, Kodiyeri said.
“The Left is not against the devotees or the faithfuls. All political parties had welcomed the Sabarimala verdict in the beginning. But when some parties began to take a contradictory stand against it, the situation changed. But there were allegations that the government was not able to accommodate those changes and express their stance,” Kodiyeri said.
In order to overcome the setback in Lok Sabha elections, CPM workers began a campaign to listen to the public opinion by visiting their residences. Squads of party workers started visiting houses from July 22 to 28. Home visits started in Kannur on Sunday itself. Apart from listening to the public opinion regarding the party, they will also explain party’s stand to the people. All leaders including state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will be part of the home visiting squads in different areas.
