Thiruvananthapuram: The Travancore Devaswom Board has lodged a complaint with the Director General of Police (DGP) and Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) against a private organisation that announced to provide helicopter services for Sabarimala pilgrims to Nilakkal.

The Kerala High Court on Friday had directed Pathanamthitta district collector and police chief to investigate the private firm’s advertisement about running helicopter services. The advertisement was published in the website of Heli Kerala without the permission of the devaswom board.

“The move is aimed at fooling the pilgrims and action must be taken against it,” stated Travancore Devaswom Board in its complaint.

A newspaper advertisement by another firm about running copter services to Nilakkal for Sabarimala pilgrims had landed in a similar controversy, a year ago.

Every year, numerous private organisations approach the devaswom board seeking to offer chopper services. However, most of them fail to follow the security guidelines and hence are denied approval.
